How we score & rank
ReviewFerret exists to save you the hours of research a good purchase usually takes. Here is exactly how we arrive at every ranking, what our score does and does not measure, and why you can trust that the order isn't for sale.
What we do, and what we don't
We are a data-driven ranking site. We analyse verified owner reviews at scale, alongside published product specifications and Amazon's own sales signals, and turn that into an ordered list. We do not run laboratory tests, take products apart, or conduct hands-on trials, and we will never claim a product was tested when it was not. What we offer instead is breadth: the collective experience of hundreds of thousands of people who already own the thing you are considering.
Qualifying: the 500-review bar
A product only enters the pool once it carries at least 500 verified owner reviews. This is deliberately blunt. A 5.0 average from twelve buyers tells you almost nothing, and new listings are the easiest place for manipulated reviews to hide. Products with too few verified reviews to judge confidently are excluded, however good they may be.
The ReviewFerret score
Every product gets a single number out of 10, built from three real inputs:
- Star rating — the Amazon average, doubled onto our 10-point scale. A 4.5 becomes a 9.0.
- Review volume — a bounded bonus that grows with the logarithm of the verified review count, worth up to +0.3. A 4.7 from 12,000 owners outranks a 4.7 from 600.
- Recent momentum— a bounded bonus from Amazon's own estimate of units sold in the past month, worth up to +0.2, so a product people are actively buying today beats one coasting on old reviews.
Scores are then assigned largest-first down the ranks and nudged apart where they would tie, so the number and the position can never contradict each other. Nothing in that formula is subjective, and nothing in it is invented.
Balancing: no brand owns a list
No brand may take more than two places in any list. Without that rule a single manufacturer with a wide catalogue and a big review base would sweep whole categories, which would be accurate and completely useless to you.
We refresh prices and deals weekly
Prices move constantly. We re-check pricing and active discounts at least weekly and update rankings when the value equation changes. The live price and any current deal are always confirmed on Amazon's own page when you tap through — which is why our buttons say “Check Price” rather than quoting one.
Health and supplement categories
Some of our lists cover supplements and personal-health products. These are ranked exactly the same way — by owner-review data — and that is a measure of what buyers experienced, not of clinical efficacy or safety. Nothing on this site is medical advice, and dietary supplements are not evaluated by the FDA. Talk to a doctor or pharmacist before starting one.

No manufacturer or retailer can pay to be included or ranked higher. Commission rates never influence the order of a list; rankings are set by the ReviewFerret score alone.
